Coaster Tassel Edge
Cut 56 strands measuring about 8 inches long. Attach to each stitch from round 7.
How to Attach the Tassel
Prepare your strands: Cut several lengths of yarn (usually twice the length you want the finished tassel to be).
Fold and Insert: Fold the strands in half to create a loop at the top. Insert your crochet hook from the front to back through the stitch where you want the tassel attached.
Pull Through: Catch the yarn loop with your hook and pull it partway through the stitch (from front to back). You should now have a yarn loop on one side of the stitch and the loose "tails" on the other.
Secure the Knot: Reach through the loop with your fingers (or hook) and grab the loose tails. Pull the tails completely through the loop and tug firmly to tighten the knot against the edge of your work.
Tips for a Clean Look
Consistency: Always insert your hook from the same direction (e.g., always front to back) so the "bump" of the knot looks the same across your project.
Frayed edges: Using a fine toothed comb, start at the very ends of the tassel and slowly work your way up toward the knot.
Trimming: Once all your tassels are attached, lay the piece flat and use sharp fabric scissors to trim the ends into a neat, even line.
Bulk: For a fuller tassel, use 3–5 strands of yarn at once instead of just one.
